Nice day at Willard, spent most of the time in Freeway Bay or near feedlot.
Picked up 5 Large Crappie trolling Rapala Original size 5, 2 inch Blue. Blue Plate specials.
But I wanted wipers, they got the memo I was coming, and unionized. I would have taken a walleye or two, but no such luck. I did see a couple of walleye boated, but zero wipers. You can tell when someone boats a wiper, usually a shower and spray begins.
It was a nice day.

Willard does have some nice sized crappie, especially if yo compare them with those at Pineview - LOL. Glad you were able to get in on the action. The wipers for the most part appear to be smaller in size this year, but they sure are fun to catch.
How do you like to prepare your crappie? We've done everything from using them in tacos to battered and fried... always like having some on hand.

Way to go Uintaman!
After doing well on the Wipers last Friday, I decided to take my wife out yesterday. We trolled mostly, but stopped now and then to slip bobber fish for crappie.
We were on the water from around 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and only caught one crappie just west of the north marina that got off at the boat, and one catfish on a flicker shad trolling 1.5 mph in freeway bay.
We only saw one boat catch a crappie. We didn't see any other fish caught from boats that were trolling or that were anchored.
My wife was happy to be out on the water, and she did get a lot of reading done. She was not to impressed with all the gnats.
The water went from 59 deg in the morning to 63 deg in the afternoon.
Dan from Fish Tech launch while we were getting our boat read, and we saw him heading for the marina around 4:00 pm or so. I wonder how he did, he seems to know all about warm water species.
