I just arrived home from Flaming gorge. Our fishing season has begun. I was on the water yesterday with 7 veterans aboard our 24’ pontoon boat “HOPE”. The Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force were represented. All are great men who served our country with honor and valor.

Although the fishing was a little slow we managed to catch rainbows, kokanee and lake trout. All were caught while kokanee fishing with RMT dodgers (red or pink) with pink squid 24” behind. Down riggers were down 15 to 25’. Lead core rods were out 3 colors. The slowest this boat can troll is 1.5 MPH.

Additionally, the day before we caught 3 lb rainbows next to the launch ramp at Lucerne valley marina on size 1 mepps spinners (yellow). There are literally 100’s of rainbows at the launch ramps and around the shallows, but there are lots of anglers as well. Flies and power bait work well, I have heard.

We will be back to Lucerne valley Marina this coming week end for the Flaming Gorge Derby where we will have a couple of boats fishing, After that I intend to be at the marina and at our camp for disabled combat veterans most of the upcoming year. I promise you cannot miss our boats; adorned with graphics of flags and warriors. Come by and say hello. I will try to post reports each week of the fishing on the Gorge and the surrounding waters. Although it might be a slightly lengthy trip from the Wasatch front the incredible fishing and magnificent scenery justifies the trip. I hope to see you there. Steve
