Huntington North - picking up
#1
A friend and I fished HN on Wednesday from our tubes. We were using our fly rods and size 6-8 bead head buggers, leeches and soft hackles. We caught a few healthy rainbows and one 18" wiper. The reservoir is almost full with a water temperature that ranged from 53 at the start to 59 degrees when we left. It was an unusual day because almost all of the fish we caught were hooked between 12:30 and 2:30 in the afternoon. The rest of the day (from 7:30 - 3:00) the bite just stopped. It was a nice day with some quality fish as a bonus.[Smile]

Nice, good looking wiper and Bow. I'm surprised the water temps are that warm there, do you know what the elevation is at HN?

The reservoir elevation is just over 5,800'.

The wiper fishing at HN usually starts two to three weeks after Willard Bay.

GoFish,
I really like that little lake too. Sure wish it was not such a power squadron magnet though. Newly retired so I hope to fish there more during the weekdays rather than the weekends.
I realize zooms need to have fun also, But sure can be frustrating when the waves that try to kill you are from wakes and not the wind. Those come at a fella from every which way.

I usually stay away from the place between Memorial Day and Labor Day for that reason.[:/]

You can fish early or late during the week and be pretty safe.
