Hello All,
My wife loves to fish and loves catching even more. I have heard U L has some great catching at this time of year for white bass. I would like to take her there but need help in where to go and what to use. I know there is a lot of help on this site and I love how willing everyone shares. THANKS in advance.

I fish a local marina, tossing 2-3 inch curly tail jigs in chartreuse. I prefer the lake side of the marina. I did well a few days ago, but he wind and cooler weather yesterday slowed the bit I think. Just my two cents.
The catfish should be coming on in the next few weeks if we get a good warm spell, and that is much more fun than the WB.
good luck

try the provo marina, mostly on the outside, and mostly near where the river comes in. small, to medium jigs in white or chartreuse do the trick for me. if they're not biting as well, a little shad spray can help.

Hit the lake today, but I was fly fishing. That said, they were happy to take my black woolley buggers. They were along the shoreline from about 10 feet out. It was windy and rainy, but they didn't seem to mind much.

I killed them just up from the lake near the main state park. They would hit my jigs if I worked them SLOWLY just hopping the jig off the bottom of the river. I caught well over 100. Look for deep pools and they will be there. This was just yesterday on the 21st.

I too have had luck many times around the harbors using curly tails in various greens/white. When the water is up they're often just feet off the shore line hiding in the rocks.
Floating a small bit of nightcrawler under a bobber is an easy passive technique.

Were you by the Center Street bridge? Thanks!

I was upstream from that bridge. Any deep pools I found, there I found the white bass. Good luck

I was also out last night (at Provo), and my experience fits with the other people here giving advice.
(1) Slow retrieve--this makes a big difference.
(2) Be near the mouth of the river (or, another inlet)
(3) There are a lot of people out, so you will easily see where they are catching fish. The norms seem to be that people can get pretty close to each other.
One thing I would add: I find that dusk is the very best. If you are taking someone who doesn't fish as regularly, I would aim for the last hour of sunlight.
I like baits with a little flash--like a spinner or something with a blade. However I don't like spinnerbait style baits, as i find I miss more fish with them. If I go again, I'm planning on using some flashy streamers.

I have to sift through a lot of fish to find a few that will break 12 inches. In other places I've fished, white bass averaged larger. But they are fun to catch, especially on light tackle.

I went with my brother today to try for some whit bass. This was the first time I fished for them and the first for Utah lake. We had a blast, caught around 60 and kept a few for a fish fry. We started about 9am started catching around 10. Used a green grub and fished the river inside the state park.
