Hey guys, I'm coming to Utah this coming up week and plan on fishing as much as possible. Would like to focus on trout as I don't have them here in west TN. I will be in the Fountain Green area and am just looking for some tips on where to go and what to use. I have a fly rod and some spinning gear with various spinners and cranks I have caught trout here in Tennessee on the east side in the smokies but mostly 6-8 inch rainbows. I would like to avoid city parks if possible. So if someone could point me in the right direction that would be amazing and I will be happy to return the favor of anyone plans on coming to Tennessee for world class crappie and bass on Kentucky or Barkley lakes or the smokies for trout. If you would rather DM me that's fine to I know how secretive spots can be. Again any help would be amazing! Thanks guys

Burston ponds is not too far from you it's been it's by the town Mona just north of Nephi dwr stocks it pretty well with trout this time a year.

Thanks guys. I plan on mostly shore fishing. Around here that is walking creek banks and sight casting or fishing deep pools and eddies. I don't mind a long drive and I don't mind walking a ways

You should consider driving up Fairview canyon. Many lakes up there that you could fish.

I second Kent's advice, "You should consider driving up Fairview canyon." Lots of good lakes and fun little streams to fish in. Cutthroat, rainbows and tiger trout from 10" to 18" (a few bigger) are what you can expect to catch.
For streams, consider using #1 and #2 sized Blue Fox or Mepps type spinners in silver, gold, red/white or firetiger. Small, 1.5" to 2.5", minnow bait/jerkbaits like x-raps, Yo-zuri pins minnows, or Rapala floating minnows and night crawlers.
For lakes, the same spinners, spoons (like Jakes Spin-a-lures, Daredevil's etc.), and flies (wooly buggers, renegades, midge, and mayfly patterns should get you into plenty of fish. Of course the worms and powerbait are always good options to have along too.
I believe there are some special regulations and possible seasonal closers up there so You'll want to pick up a copy of the fishing regulations before you go. Take your bug spray for the mosquitos and ticks!

Some of the water up Fairview canyon is just opening up from the ice off and should provide some fast action, but there are restrictions on some of the streams until July, so make sure you check the regulations. There is also still snow on many of the dirt roads, and the roads that are open will be wet and muddy. I know that area fairly well and avoid it this time of year until it dries out, unless you carry chains in your vehicle you should stick to paved roads.

Hi Tennesseeguy! I am also from the south; Kentucky. I live in Fountain Green. I miss fishing Kentucky Lake and Barkley. Reelfoot lake was a Spring destination in west Tennessee.

Hey, I'm from East Tennessee. Moved here 30+ years ago. I love it! I used to trout fish in Tellico and the upper Hiwasse at Reliance. Good times! Still visit on occasion.

Electric Lake Cleveland Res and Huntington Res are up fairview canyon all within 5 minutes of each other and there's Scofield Res on the other side. Then there's ponds on the way to Joe's Valley Res. You can spend an entire day up there catching trout lol

es park spelling may be wrong. But I caught rainbows consistently there and a few larger fish I believe to be tiger trout?
