Last Saturday we spent the day chasing Kokes at Strawberry. After only modest success on Soldier Creek side went over to Strawberry Bay to join the throngs of vessels there. Water surface was like glass and we could see many large schools of fish cruising 10' down. They were large fish ... Seemed to be in th 15" size range. Moved downriggers up to that depth with no success. Changed lures and colors ... Also no success. We used polarized glasses to see them better. Definitely not Kokes. Too big for chubs, too small for carp. Sometimes we saw what we think was the pink lateral line on rainbows.
1) Did anyone else see those schools ( Sage Creek & near the Narrows)? What do you think they were???
2) Also, surprised to see algae in the water already. Isn't it too early for that?
