Pelican lake
#1
I fished pelican over the weekend with a good friend of mine. Fishing was very good for bass but we caught nothing over 2 lbs. We fished shallow with alot of cover using senkos. We boated over 200 fish. We also had fun catching some with topwater. Bugs were out in full force. Did see a couple in a boat not catching anything. They were told to use frogs. We gave them a few senkos and they started catching fish.

I had to call in sick so I could go to Lake Powell!

Mad melon and gold shad were the top colors. They seemed to like to take it on the drop. Others waited until it hit the bottom. Top water was also fairly productive with a black frog. Good luck!!!

Nice haul of fish! You obviously had it down that day.

Makes me wonder about those folks not catching anything. Did they not have any other lures to try? Did they not have the thought, "Hum frogs aren't working today perhaps I should switch lures"? Were they novices and simply didn't know what else to try (in which case frogs was probably not the best thing for them to start with). I know there are lots of possible scenarios, but seriously, when you're not catching fish switch it up regardless of what some "expert" said was hot. Especially at Pelican, sheesh! I can think of at least a dozen options to catch bass on out there on any given day. Heck a friend of mine went out there and one of his kids caught bass after bass just hopping a Roostertail spinner right under the boat. Who'da thunk?

Sounds like you helped them to see some good alternatives.
