My buddy got a new tube and wanted to get rid of the new smell so we fished Mammoth today from 9:30 until 3:00.
We used fast sinking lines with size 6-8 bead head buggers and leech patterns in darker colors. We caught one 10" cutthroat and the rest were tigers from 13" - 19" long. Almost all of the fish we caught were outside of casting distance from shore in 20' - 30' FOW. The water temperature was 65 degrees and the visibility was about 10'. The reservoir level is at 79% and dropping a little less than foot/week. The were some flying ants and midges on the water and there were some fish feeding on them. It's nice to be able to fish at 9,000' and get out of the heat.
It wasn't fast fishing but it was pretty steady. The best fishing was in the afternoon.
