A friend and I fished along the north dike Saturday for about 3 hours and couldn't have been better. We were washing mussels and Gulp baits and would have fish hitting within less than a minute after casting. The fun part was if we missed a strike we would reel very slowly and usually the fish would really slam the moving meal.
I was very surprised to be getting such hot fishing right in the middle of the day with non stop wake boats near us, but the fish didn't care. I don't think we went ten minutes all afternoon without a bite. Certainly a day to remember.
We kept a few and grilled them up tonight and had a great time fighting and releasing the rest.
