Lonely at Lincoln
#1
Finally got another shot at Lincoln. Windy weekend and Algae poop have kept me away too long. I expected the water to be a combination of muddy brown and soupy green. Very little algae in the water... thin layer of green near shore but very little in the open sea. Water was kinda muddy from all the wind over the weekend but still managed enough cats to partially relieve the cravings of my cataholicism.

The launch channel is nothing more than a puddle. Launching, for small boats and toons is possible near the first spring. The bedrock bottom there is safe to drive on and drop off a small aluminum type boat.

Slow fishing today... fished from 7-ish to noon and caught 7 or so cats the biggest maybe 27 inches.. All were caught on chub minnows -- didn't try carp meat this time.

Saw one other boat launched from the bed of a truck near the orchards. Looked like an eye guy cuz he stayed pretty close to the Lincoln Point access.

Coming week should provide better fishin' as the water clears a bit from all the recent winds. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Tube man down this way soon.

Still lookin' for a big one... prospects are lookin' up.

The best is almost here.

[#0000FF]Happy to see you got out and were at least mildly rewarded. Gives hope for the near future.

I'm headed back to Willard tomorrow but might be up for a southern visit next week. Will give you a shout if my tube is pointed in that direction.

Pat, I plan on being at WB tomorrow also. Was planning to launch out of the north so I could use the cleaning station if I had anything to take home. But probably won't get there till 9 AM or a bit later. Have some business to take care of in Ogden first. If I see ya I'll cruise by and say howdy . [fishin]

I will be at the first spring around 7::00 tomorrow morning. I will be using my pontoon for the first time in about 3 years. Was hoping Gunnison Bend would give up a descent cat but 24 " cookie cutters is all I could catch. Hope the fish gods will allow me a good day at the Lincoln Swamp!

Glad to see you made it out, from the looks of the pic with your truck you could almost get your big boat to float, if a guy was really brave or ...

Got one more weekend flippin sticks before I will be down,
see ya down there

Good day at Lincoln. 11 caught; 22-26". Chub and red side minnows were used for bait. Fun getting the pontoon out. Stayed the entire time around the first spring area about 200 yards out. Walked the boat out about 50' on solid rock. Water temp was 72-74 degrees. Nice day with very little wind.

Well, I thought about checking the site this morning, but I didn't. So we ended up at opposite ends of WB again today. I was looking for your new red toon, just couldn't see all the way to south end. We did get on the water, and my partner caught the first 3, before I got any. Report coming on separate post.

ice sled-- Sorry I missed you Wed. I took a day off to get my year's supply of pine nuts... bumper crop this year.

I got out again today and picked up five cats fishing from 7-10:00... all on chubs. One pretty good one that will probably go 27 inches and will hopefully add at least an inch to my contest score. Purty today... calm all morning and the water seems to be clearing up too. Talked to one other guy fishing from the first spring point and he did better than I did -- can't win[Sad]

No trouble launching again. I walked out probably 50 ft. or so and there is still a bedrock bottom. I'm sure I could back out farther but the caution bell in my head keeps going off. With my truck out just a few more feet I could fish from the bed of my truck with a long cast. May have to give it a try.

Tomorrow is the day!

I was at Lincoln at 4:30 a.m. today. Dead calm at home but heavy seas at Lincoln. Went back home and caught up on some ZZZZZZs. I'll be there early Sat. too so hope to see you there. I plan to fish from shore if the wind is not too stiff.

I think the next couple of weeks will provide some of the best fishin' for cats. Full moon comin' up that should be great for some night shifts. The northern boys can feel smug with their temporary lead but we will make our surge soon.

The best is almost upon us.
