Mammoth - Almost felt like summer
#1
A couple of us fished Mammoth yesterday from our tubes. We fished the middle of the reservoir using fly rods, sinking line, and size 6-8 buggers and leeches in darker colors. We caught all tiger trout from 10" - 19" long. The water temperature was 45-46 degrees and the visibility in the water was about 4' because of algae. The reservoir is as low as I have seen it in several years, 28% full. They have stopped taking water out so the level has stabilized. Needless to say, the boat ramp is not usable. The weather was cloudy to start with but the winds were calm and it warmed into the 50's. We usually have snow up there by this time but not this year.[:/]

I usually hit up Mammoth at least 2-3 times a year but didn't get a chance this year. I hope we get some water, but the word on the street is it's going to be a La Nina year [Sad]
