It had been many moons since the last time I fished Henrys Reservoir, in Idaho. Yesterday, Ira and I made the long drive (over 4 1/2 hours each way!). Wasted about an hour trying to find a fellow Idaho BFT member, to finally give up and just wing it.
Fished on ice that was between 2 1/2 and 3" at the most. Thinner than I prefer. Catching was a little slow, with us only landing 8 fish (Ira, took honors with 5 of them). We both should have landed several more. I caught a beautiful brook trout of about 17 inches (should have taken a picture). I also landed the heaviest trout that I have ever seen. It was only 17 1/2 inches long but weighed over 4 pounds. The picture below doesn't do it justice. Decided that any future trips (and I hope there are several) will be two days or longer. Too many hours staring at glass to justify fishing for only a few hours.
Great to get out with Ira again and hope to fish another Idaho pond with him just as soon as it has safe ice.

Great fish! I agree about the distance. I don't have an exact algorithm, but I always try to squeeze in at least two days fishing for Idaho trips, and three days fishing for Montana trips.

That is a thick fat one. I did well today after fishing myself out of the drink. Ice is not ready on North shore. It was a zoo today anywhere there was reasonable ice. Hope to see you out there again one day.

Sorry you couldn't find us . There were 6 BFT members and friends fishing the outlet . When you were headed out did you see the Webster sign.

Yes we did. When we drove in, we noticed the larger street sign there on the opposite side of that street, but didn't see the small sign reading, "Webster Sub". Wish we could have met you and the other folks fishing with you.

Nice catch bro. I only had the chance to fish Henrys when I was living in ID just before moving to UT.
I was in the boy scouts and that was the lake of choice for our week long camp.
Fishing through hard water was a challenge without an auger but thanks to my dear ol dad, I learned some other techniques and was able to pull out some nice fish.
I'm happy to see that the Brookies are still around. [fishon]
