Wanting to talk my dad into going out for our annual Christmas Eve ice trip, but kind of clueless on ice. What should we do? If strawberry had ice by Saturday that'd be sweet, but I don't think that will happen...😞

those larger bodies of water tend to take a little longer to freeze up. I have personally fished Mantua three times this season and the ice has been 4 plus inches every time. With these cold temperatures that we've been getting lately a lot of bodies of water should cap off here soon. the best thing to do is check the fishing reports and ice conditions online

You can call the strewberry marina, I'm thinking mud creek bay and maybe Renegade maybe Frozen enough to fish on but I think the open lake is still open.
They do have a lot of snow to deal with. Good luck!

Strawberry marina did cap over night. With the cold temps over the next week Saturday may be a possibility.

I called DWR today and they said a couple bays are iced in but with only 2". It looks like it is going to be soon, they didn't tell me what bays are iced.
