that sounds like strawberry best bite always seems to be early on in the morning and then they say goodbye with the occasional fish. Not sure where they go...

6 to 8 where we were fishing
We just got off the ice it was fun to go for the first time caught a couple more after my post, it was still pretty slow from 8 on and handful of guys were out but none stayed to long two tents were left when we packed up, so go early to get the quick bite

You fishing the bay adjacent to Hwy 40? Are the roads to the campground & dam snowed in?
I have found the best fishing is the first 30 to 60 minutes of daylight in SC. I have found moving closer to shore has helped when the fishing slows - at least for the rainbows.
Thx

I tried getting down the road last night. I was by myself and wasmt going to chance it. The snow wasn't packed down very well and it was slick. I think you would be ok w chains or if you are braver then me lol. I like fishing sorta in the middle of soldier just to the right of the ramp. Fish usually are only 10-20 feet under the ice in 40 or 50 feet of water. Fishing can be fast at times. I was hoping to get there last night but ended at the ladders since I got a late start.
