I've heard reports of some guys catching a few trout by fishing quite shallow, like 6 to 9 feet deep. Try the shallow water to avoid the chubs which are very plentiful in the 12 to 20 foot water. You may also want to fish 5 to 8 feet deep while fishing in deeper water. The trout are often cruising around suspended well off the bottom.
If you do catch a few chubs, try using a piece of the chub meat on your jigs to target the tiger and cutthroat trout. The ice is plenty thick all around the lake. It is over 12 inches in the bay near the main state park and dam.
Good luck and bundle up, it's predicted to be very cold next week.
