So for a spring trip we will be following the Utah Pie Trail through Southern Utah. It is a collection of what is suggested as the best places to eat pie in Utah. A request from Buckwheat to do.
Figured along the way we would get in some fishing.
It would all be from the shore.
Stops are Richfield, Torrey, Mt Carmel and St George areas.
If you have any suggestions for us to consider, especially considering the wheelchair ( although we get pretty creative about getting him into crazy places) let me know. Other than Lake Powell i have not played around much past Beaver. I want to swing by Redmon and see if there are still some pike but other than that no set plans.

I'd suggest a stop at Otter Creek if you haven't ever tried it. It usually produces some tank Rainbows that are some of the fattest "footballs" in the state and they have a nice State Park at the dam that has pretty good access. For shore fishing I prefer the west side access roads like Senior Citizen Point or Tamerisk Point. I'm not sure about wheelchair access but most of the roads are graded so you can easily drive down near the shore to check it out.

Upper enterprise if you're in the St.George area. The fish are fat and delicious. If the trip is a ways down the road (season wise ) you may get some smallies there as well. Gunlock can be great for crappie if the weather cooperates.

St George area, just north of St George going south, get off the freeway at the Leeds exit. On the north east end of town the ladies with long braids and prairie dresses have a trading post. They sell small personal size pies (home made), farm raised eggs, ice cream, sandwiches, etc. Then you can drive through Leeds and less than 5 miles to Quail Creek State Park. There is a fishing dock or you can fish from the boat launch.
Also if you go through Zions at the west entrance is the town of Springdale. They are famous for their bumbleberry pies. Unfortunately no fishing all that close to the park.
I also agree on Veyo for pie. Baker reservoir is close by but not my favorite fishing spot.

Txs for the suggestions. We are mapping our route now and will see what we can fit it. Priority 1 is Buckwheats Pie Trail ?

If pie is the main event and you are already going to be in Torrey, I'd suggest heading on down Highway 12 to Boulder. That stretch of road is unforgettable, probably the most scenic fun drive in Utah and I heard the homemade pie at Burr Trail Grill is very good.

If you make it into St. George area, give Sand Hollow a try for Bass and don't pass up Croshaw's Gourmet Pies on Bluff St. They also make some very good sandwiches. If you give Gunlock Res. a try northwest of St. Geo for Bass & Crappie make sure to visit Slice of Veyo in Veyo (a few miles north) because they have some great pies too. I'm jealous I wish I was going along. Have fun and enjoy some pie.
Also don't overlook Ivins Res which is a fun place to fish. Last time I fished there there were tons of smaller sized bass.

I assume if you are going to be in Torrey, that Fruita is on the pie list. If not, it needs to be. The Gifford House in the center of Capital Reef has amazing fresh fruit pies.

I’m partial to a good ole fashion apple pie. I prefer a peach cobbler over a peach pie. I like a cherry pie but its tartness can be too rich. Lemon morange is another rich in flavor, I won’t turn it away
