Buddy & I hadn't been to Pelican since 2018, so planned a 2-day trip. Cooperating weather/wind, but the fish not so much. Hit the water
and fished hard yesterday from 8-5pm. Air 42, water 58-64. Caught half-doz largies in the 14-16+ range, throwing a lot of stuff against the wall, with only a black & blue senko rigged weightless-whacky doing some sticking. Did manage some bluegill, but nothing approaching even 5". Water level seemed down, which was confirmed by a few locals who said the fishing-catching was also down this spring, eventho a club tourney was productive 2 wks ago. Frustrated, so decided to see what's what at Starvy on the way back this morn. Water 50-54 there and another bluebird day. Finished at noon with only one 20" walleye caught on a jerkbait over 6' of water. No other bites, tho spooked some footer smallies warming themselves in the rocks in Saleratus.
