Bassin and Basin bust
#1
Decided to fish a little while working out in Uinta Basin this week. Been wanting to fish some of the local waters for a bit now. Was finally able to introduce myself. Started by trying Steinaker, but didn't last long before the wind drove me away. No fish. Headed for shelter at Red Fleet in a back cove. Much better conditions, but still same blank on the fish. Bust. Need to return for a rematch at both. Switched gears next day and headed for Pelican. From research I knew it wasn't the best option for shore fishing,  but I still wanted to try my luck at the fabled water. Wasn't disappointed, at least mostly. First cast snagged someone else's line and lost my 'favorite' jig.  Next 2 casts found the mark, hooking a couple 12" lmbs. Then it was practically non stop action for small bluegill. Sure wish I could have found the monsters of olden days, but it was still entertaining for a bit. Poked around the vegetation as best I could, catching another half dozen largies. None as big as the first. Went back to the gills for a bit longer before calling it quits. Seems like a pond I can have fun in, but will need to bring some flotation for next trip.

Thanks for the Pelican report. I’m headed there in a couple of hours. I haven’t fished it since the kill off. It was one of my favorite places to take my kids. The blue gill were so big and they were so easy to catch. Definitely better with some flotation. I use to bring my canoe. I’ll have a boat this year, living cushy!

Did you see much sign of carp?
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

Bummer, a little too late. Would have loved to jump in the boat with you. Hope it treats you well and the bigguns find your hook.

Strangely no. There were a few good splashes up in the reeds, but none of the more noticeable spawning activity. None were spotted cruising the shallows either. Would have liked to catch one that had the bounty tag attached.
