Strawberry Soldier Creek
#1
Hit Soldier creek looking for kokanee spending about 4.5 hours. Very very windy with gusts even turning the boat. We caught about 20+ rainbow and 5 cuts but no kokanee today. Bows were fat and healthy and released without harm. Will try again to play hide and seek with the kokanee. Fished from 10-60 feet. Talked to a few others who also caught cuts and bows, but no kokanee.

I chatted with a couple anglers who also struggled with kokes last this week. Maybe the calmer weather pattern will heat em up
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

From the stocking reports, this could be a poor year for the kokes at The Berry. 2knots reported the same wind report but I think he found some toward the end of the day but only got two kokes. At least the bows give a good fight, like the kokes. Any size to the bows you caught?

On the smaller size, mostly 13-15 inches. Got two about 18 inches, but all returned to grow to 5-7 lbs  Big Grin

Wouldn't that be amazing, 5 lbs bows in strawberry, I think I'd fish there more, if that happened

Thanks for the report. Jon and I fished it on both sides a few days before you and found the same. Fat rainbows at about 16" and smaller ones, plus some nice cutts, but no kokes.

Jon did get a nice rainbow that was over 3 pounds. At Strawberry it was a slot buster cutt (gill slashes), but genetically it was a rainbow Smile.
