I use to go often this time of year with my kids to catch blue gill and we would always catch several bass too. This was my first trip back since they killed it to get rid if the carp. FAIL! Got over there Friday around noon. Found out there was a tournament on Sat and another on Sunday, bummer. Fishing was slow, we could always find a pocket and catch all of the blue gill we wanted, but they were small. The bass were much tougher to catch. I’m not a pro, but I know more now than I did 8 years ago and caught fewer bass. The few I caught were on a green sparkly fluke, 5 in pumpkin senko wacky, top water frog, a 4 inch purple robo worm drop shot, and a little 1 inch black with chartreuse skirt tube jig tipped with pb nibble. My son did catch one dandy large mouth. The wind kicked up strong in the afternoons but it calmed down before dusk. Overall, I’m not sure I’ll be back. There are a lot of fishing/camping spots closer than 4 hours from Pleasant View with better fishing and nicer camping.

We sure don't get many reports from Pelican, so thanks for sharing. Too bad the catching wasn't better and the carp are back? Were there lots of them?

No, just saw a few and they were small. I have seen some recent YouTube videos of Pelican bass fishing that showed better bass fishing. Maybe the bite was off for me or the 2 tournaments pushed the fish into deeper cover. I’m sure I’ll go back.

Bummer they came back so quick, after all the money they spent to get rid of them.
