Sick of Willard reports? Too bad, here's another!
#1
Wife and I went out this morning and launched out of the south Marina. We turned right, skirting the bank tanglers at the mouth of the channel and started pulling cranks along the dike towards the feedlot. It was just a couple of minutes and had the first eye in the boat. We caught 3 eyes and 3 smallmouth before the corner. Then went around the corner towards freeway. We caught another 2 eyes and 3 more smallmouth, then nothing until we got all the way to the freeway east dike.

We picked up one more eye there, but nothing else, so we wandered into the openness cutting back towards the feedlot dike. We caught a cat on a worm harness along the way, but nothing else. We resumed our dike hugging and turned the corner towards the channel entrance with no more fish to show for it. Then the outside rod got hit, as I started reeling it in the middle right side rod got nailed, as my wife reached for that one, the inside rod went bendo. We had a triple hookup! I have never had a triple walleye hookup, but we succeeded landing all 3 in the same net. So cool!

After getting everything unhooked and in the cooler, we swung back around to go through the area again. Nothing on the 1st pass, but on the second we had a chunky cat slam the crank. We released the smallmouths and the cats.

We were done by that time and headed in. Total of 9 walleye, 6 smallmouth and 2 cats for the morning. Not too bad.

Thanks for the report and pictures.  There is some good eating there.

That is the way to fill a net. Wink

We were trolling at 2.2. 8-12 ft depth was best for us.

Your right lots of old willy reports but they are still fun to read
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

No such thing as too many Willard reports. I was there Sat morning. Two huge perch saved me from the skunk. Light pole was good a week ago but not so much Sat. Zero on the walleye. Even the smallies in the rocks didn’t want to come out and play.

Nice report and so cool that your wife came along. We made some walleye for date night with a neighbor couple on Friday and they could not believe how good they were. Baked fillets with a lemon butter with garlic sauce. So good!!

Thanks for all the replies. I do enjoy when she goes with me. She hates the early starts, and let's me know about it, but grudgingly goes anyway. Willard can be a wild card sometimes,  but she treated us well on Saturday.
