Doyle Beck's attorney and best buddy is Bryan Smith who is running for US congress. Get the word out to vote against him or Beck will even have more power.

From aerial photo's it seems that Mr. Beck has a lot of property out there. I sure hope he isn't contaminating PUBLIC waters with pesticide and herbicide used on his property. I wonder if he has taken precautions to prevent potential contamination from possible spills on his helicopter landing pad? I wonder if the water in this harbor has been evaluated for invasive species? The potential impact on migratory birds and aquatic life from these kinds of hazards could be devastating. These kinds of things can become costly I would think. It sure would be unfortunate for Mr. Beck if the EPA were to get involved. There is a couple fighting the EPA in Wyoming right now because they wanted a pond on their property, but the EPA is taking exception.
Just sayin'.......... Might be worth looking into...... [signature]

I might be worth a call to the EPA and State of Idaho regarding his helo pad and especially if he has a refueling station there.

Given that the area was an active gravel pit for quite some time I would guess there were some petroleum spills or leaks from heavy equipment from time to time as well. Unless they were properly mitigated the residual contamination could possibly pose a hazard as well if it were to leach back into the water. This guys property could really be exposing public waters and wildlife to some nasty stuff!
I can't imagine what it would cost to pump all of that water from his property and test the land to ensure it's safe for the water to be there for future generations. Who knows, maybe there was dumping of other chemicals there he was unaware of; it was an open gravel pit. Can he assure the public that no illegal dumping ever happened? This just brings up so many questions....... [signature]

Such a large parcel of land is also capable of accommodating significant populations of migratory birds. I wonder if the necessary actions have been taken to ensure compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918? His helicopter could potentially have an impact on the nesting of listed migratory birds and their habitat.

The US Coast Guard may also be interested in this debate as I believe they have interests in waters that discharge into navigable waters. What a can of worms this could be ........

I just resent letters to the IDFG, Attorney Generals office, and the Department of Lands again. I figure after almost a year they should have some kind of a stance on this issue. Hopefully more of a result will be coming than "we are looking into the issue."

Would an inquiry from Representative Simpson get the Idaho AG in gear? We could ask him to look into it.
http://simpson.house.gov/contact/ Feel free to use this as a starting point: Representative Simpson, Our access to public resources is being impinged. Judge Joel Tingey has granted private citizens exclusive access to a navigable portion of the Snake River near Idaho Falls commonly called Gem Lake harbor. Idaho tax payers are paying for management of fish and other resources for the exclusive use of those who own property adjacent to the harbor. This is not right. The Idaho Attorney General has been asked to review the matter, but has shown limited interest in doing so. Please use your influence to ensure this violation of our rights is corrected quickly. I live about 10 minutes away from gem lake.
that area is loaded with waterfowl. I had permission to hunt in there yrs ago before all the housing was built. A lot of the geese that use the greenbelt in IF fly out to that area daily. Used to be a nice population of pheasants and partridge in there as well. My opinion as a local, is that Beck can have his little pond, there are tons and tons of better places to go around here, that place to me is kinda nasty, Gem lake isn't that great of a place, lots of annoying teens, drugs, people who don't give a crap and leave lots of garbage. And the topper for the cake is that it is only a stone throw away from the sewer plant, when the wind blows the right way............yuck. I think the guy is stupid for building there in the first place. he basically lives right next to the city sewer plant. I think they still spread sludge on the field directly east of his property. You've got several good points but you missed a very good reason to use it. Big bass. The ones I would catch there would eat the ones out of ririe for a snack.
