Yes, I don't have a picture. They are fatter than our perch.

Here is a pic of one, I use to have many of my own picture of Sacramento Perch, until my computer crashed. combined with my stupidity in not backing them up. My dad would pull his trailer and boat, up to Lake Crowley, Calif. ever summer after he was retired and spend from June to September fishing for them, Sacramento Perch was his passion, I spent many a cherished hour fishing for them with him, over the years he perfected the colors and styles of lures that would work best. I have to say (with no disrespect) but the DNR in Utah does not have a clue about Sacramento Perch, they are very aggressive and catchable, and we did very well trolling for suspended perch in Aug and September, and during the spawn, June/July jigging would produce lots of perch as well. 100 fish days were not uncommon. If I had to describe them, it would have to be a Crappie on steroids, Actually I have used many of my dads trolling tactics for Sacramento Perch to catch Crappie here in Utah. Sadly as my Dad laid in his hospital bed, and came to the realization that he would not be able to fish for Sacramento perch again, he lost his will to live. I recently visited my mom, and found a picture of my dad, a fellow fisherman had taken of him the last year he was at Lake Crowley, He wash bundle up on a cold September day, steam rising from the water, standing at the back of his boat, trolling for the fish he so dearly loved in the Eastern Sierras, every time I see that pic my eyes begin to water up.

hope this helps

I really wished we had more of those guys in utah. Suppose to be in pineview but for 13 years of fishing that reservoir I've never caught one.

I caught one many, many years ago in Gunnison Bend Res. I was a teenager, but I was obsessed with fishing. I'd caught black and white crappie, bluegill and green sunfish out of there and knew what they were, but this one wasn't colored right for a green, had too big of a mouth for a bluegill, and definitely wasn't a crappie. After a little research, I found out it was a Sacramento Perch. Before the power plant was built, they did some studies (gill-net or electroshock, I'm not sure) of both DMAD and Gunnison Bend. One of the surprising things that they found in Gunnison Bend (at least to me) was the sacramento perch along with cutthroat trout still in there.

I don't know how many still exist there since after the floods of 1983, but I think there are still some out there. The one I caught was about 6" long, so I thought it was pretty good sized for a sunfish. Smile

Under record catches on the dwr web site, it shows the state record for utah, so they must be here, but where?

Pruess (sp) lake is where the record is from I believe. But I have no idea where in the state that is.

I think you would enjoy Starvation, not like fishing in a bathtub like Willard. Say hi to the guys out there at PH for me. [fishin]

There used to be some in garrison res out by the border. Caught a few when I was a kid. There used to be a lot of cats out there to. Not sure what roams the waters there now.
