I am wondering if anyone has found out anything about the knolls? I did a lot of fishing down that was growing up and was hoping that it is opened back up? If anyone has any info that would be appreciated.

When I drove by this spring, late March maybe? All the No Tresspassing signs were still up. Sorry.

[#0000FF]The Springville office of DWR has been working with the land owners and county commissioners to come up with a public access arrangement that will be agreeable to all. One of the major players is the LDS church...with their committees and lawyers. We might not get to fish the Knolls again until the Millennium.

Bear-- I was out by Lebaron's Point on the west side of West Mountain with my spotting scope watching the carp removal crew working the west side of Goshen Bay. Interesting. They were working some bullrush/phrag coves about by Moesida (sp?). They were wading in water that looked to be about knee deep and hauling in a lot of carp. They returned to their base on the east side and I watched the catch being conveyored up into a big goose-neck trailer. Every 10th or so fish was a white bass -- saw no other fish besides carp. They appeared to have a DWR crew nearby monitoring their catch so they could have hauled in a bunch of channels and other assorted fish and chucked them out of the nets. Anyways, made me wonder if it would be worth a trip over that way in my boat?? May be an untapped heaven for cats. Just wonderin'.
Looks like the only access to that west side is going to be by boat with all the denied vehicle access. Sad.
Someday soon I'm going over that way to check out the cattin'.

[#0000FF]There is a public access turnoff at Mosida...at mile marker 13 on Hwy 68. You have to walk a ways to get to the water but I have "heerd tell" of some decent fishing.

Is that the one that has the wood fence all the way around at the end?

[#0000FF]Yes. But the fence is just to stop vehicle traffic. You can walk down and fish.

Is it not open to drive in from mile marker 19 and get on the water with a float tube or kayak from the shore?
I'm new to the area and have been doing some homework on where to go. I'd read that much of the surrounding area is closed off and marked for no trespassing, but that the area where the road comes in is open to public access?
I went out there a couple of weeks ago. There were a lot of no trespassing signs off to the side of the dirt road, but it wasn't clear if following the road was off-limits. Mine wasn't the only car out there.

[#0000FF]The area around mile marker 19 has been a favorite with many anglers for many years. But, in the fall of 2012 it was closed to public access. And the fact that all of the roads had been used as county roads for generations meant nothing. Due to incessant trashing and vandalism the land owners finally had enough and shut it down.
There are ongoing negotiations between the landowners, DWR and Utah County to work out some mutually acceptable conditions for reopening it. But the wheels grind slowly.
