Maple Lake in Payson Canyon?
#1
Hey all--

I'm planning a camping/fishing trip up to Maple Lake in the coming few weeks. Looking online right now, it's looking like Payson Canyon is closed "at the Maple Lake turnoff" I get that I can't get any deeper than that turnoff into the canyon right now, but is the turnoff blocked as well?

Seems like I found some info on a .gov website saying that for the time being, there is no fee to use the daytime sites or camping sites because there is not any running water right now?

Anyone know where I could get more info on this? Will it be open by May 8 if it is not already? Will fees be back in place by then?

Thanks in advance

Went there on Sunday, the gate for Maple Lake on the turn off is open. The camping area after the turn off was gated though.

Gate is open to the lake. Campgrounds at the lake are open. The lower campgrounds have not been, but may be by May 8. I don't know about the fees being waved-I'm sure they are charging if they are open.

Okay, I'll bring some cash just in case Big Grin If I can find that site though I'll print off the part that said the campgrounds are fee-free and bring that too

Don't suppose anyone knows how the fishing up there has been? I can't find stocking information on Maple Lake anywhere, but I've never caught anything there except stocked bows.

Not sure where you looked, but it is in the usual place:

They will have it stocked before Memorial Day, but who knows how much before.

It looks like they planted some rainbows in Maple Lake a week ago today.
