Kokanee Search

Decided to try Jordanelle this morning and see if any Kokanee would cooperate in the cold or if I could even locate any. Negative on both counts. Trolled the usual spots but the fish were absent. Water temp was 40 and air was in the teens to start "warming" to the 30's by noon. Marked very few fish and only had 2 hook-ups with one smaller cutthroat which was released and another unidentified fish that released himself near the boat. No sign of ice on the main lake anywhere I saw. Ramps and roads are clear. Never saw another boat but there were a couple of empty trailers there. About as close to a skunk as you can get but it was fun to get out of town and get some fresh air.

That's too bad you did not find them but did you know they are hard to mark this time of the year, because they are so shallow? How deep were you fishing for them?
