Newton Blue Gill- Bass, Porcupine Report
#1
Went to Newton Friday night and the blue gills were biting from 7 to 9:30. I caught about 15 and a couple little bass and the wife only landed one but it was her first time fly-fishing so I was pretty proud of her. Several flies were working but double-renegade and damsel were working the best. The bites were tough to see cause we forgot our bite indicators and line floater. The dude across the bay from us was pulling them in tossing a little tough guy behind a sinker, and his little bro landed a couple 4-5lb bass with some kind of rooster tail. Saturday morning at Porcupine wasn't as good. Caught one first thing on orange spoon, and nothing the rest of the morning

what side were the bulegills on? any big ones? i saw hundreds of 11 or so inchers pulled out of there last year and was wondering after that if they would have any size to them.

Blue Gills were on the south-west corner, just down from the camp ground, not not any bigger than last year. My wife also had a muskie on for a few seconds before it snapped the fly off, it hit her hard and came right out of the water.

What was the fly that got the Muskie's attention ? Or could it be a bluegill near the fly ? Great report !
