Payson Lakes ??
#1
Does anyone know if the road is repaired to payson lakes? We chose this location (never been there) For our family camping trip this year due to daughter in laws being on the last month or two of pregnancy. We thought it was close to hospitals just incase. Now I'm not sure what lind of trip we'll be facing. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

From the DWR's website:

The lake is accessible from the Santaquin Canyon side. Be aware that the paved road becomes a dirt road, so drive accordingly. There could be a temporary patch placed on the road on the Payson side, but that work may still be in progress.

The road is semi-repaired. It is graveled in but not yet paved (as of last weekend). No problem to access the lakes from Payson side. Santaquin side is a bit dicey if you have big trailers to pull.

Purty up there. Don't ignore the "Beware of Bears" signs. They have been known to enjoy campers... for the scraps they may find in messy camps.

Good fishing for planter type rainbows. The lakes are planted regularly with catchable rainbows and there is a native population of brookies as well. The creek in Payson canyon is also stocked and a small worm/crawler works well as does a single salmon egg on a small hook.

If you have a small boat, kayak, or canoe (no motors) you can drag a streamer or a small spinner in the deeper water and do well.

Good luck and have fun.
