Sacramento perch - non report
#1
Three of us made the long drive out to Pruess and Pine Grove yesterday. At Pruess we caught one channel cat, one carp and one sucker. At Pine Grove we caught around 10 rainbows. We fished Pine Grove long enough that if there are any sacramento perch still in there I believe we should have at least caught one. If they don't repair the leaking dam, at Pine Grove, the dam may wash out in that section and what is left of the tiny pond will entirely disappear. I have made two attempts to catch a sacramento perch and I have failed miserably. I have made my last trip out there unless I happen to find someone that has had success catching them and is willing to allow me to tag along with them.

I sure wish we had connected with the perch but it wasn't a complete failure for me. I always try to do something I've never done before on each outing. This was my first attempt at Sacramento perch; first visit to those two lakes; first Utah sucker and first carp in a long, long time, both good for bait, and I'm up to 14 species thus far this year. First time fishing with Shane (Grandpafish?) and first time out to that part of the state. Even saw some antelope and wild(?) horses. Add having a flat tire waaaay out in the boonies and it was a grand adventure all around. I may try again later when the spawn is in full swing.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
