Hello everyone. Can you catch largemouth from shore this time of year at Utah Lake?
I've caught them from shore - shallow and around docks - there before, but it's been years and years. I forget what time of year it was.
Do you have any tips for catching Utah Lake largemouth from shore? I'm not asking for anyone's spots or honey holes. Just general tips for what you've seen there recently.

[#0000FF]In "normal" water years you would have a good chance of catching numbers of largies by walking the shorelines inside most harbors. But water levels have stayed way down this year and the bass do not seem to be comfy in the shallows. But you can still find a few.
Best bet is to cast as close to shore as possible...with tubes, hula grubs or other plastics. Black is good. So is black/blue, craw colors and sometimes black with chartreuse tails...in murky water.
Shallow running cranks or jerkbaits can produce too. But guys fishing spinners and small jigs for white bass and crappies sometimes hook good sized bass too.
Not all harbors are created equal. Some have more rock "rip-rap". Some have weeds and reeds next to shore. Those are good spots to try for structure loving largies.
Some UL bassers like to work the docks. Easier to do from the water but doable from shore...especially the areas closest to shore. Just watch out for cables and trash next to the docks.
Utah Lake doesn't have much structure even during a high water year. So wherever you can find something that bass can snuggle up to you have a shot at finding the bass...even in skinny water. Hey, the fish have to go somewhere...right? And during the last big drought...ending in 2005...bass were being caught in ridiculous shallow water. So spend some time working the different harbors and you might just find a few greenfish.
