Seasons Greetings to all
#1
Wishing all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

I’ve been BFT AWOL for the last couple of months after my doctor fixed, removed, refurbished, and replaced a few antiquated body parts; nothing serious and I should be good to continue my search for that 36 inch catfish as soon as Jeff drops the flag.

I want to share a letter I received from an old friend manyl years ago. The letter is old but there is a timeless message in it, and, it could be good for a Smile. Herewith, the letter:

Dear Lynn,

Well, about this time of the year I usually take a moment to write a few letters to my good friends, the time when I remember all the good things, and indulge myself to the extent of getting a little sentimental.

It’s a blustery evening, but here in my den it’s cozy and comfortable. I’m sitting before a nice open fire with my typewriter, sort of half listening to the radio and slowly sipping a nice, very dry double martini. I only wish you were here, but since you are not, the least I can do is to toast your health and happiness, so time out, old pal – while I bend my elbow to you.

I just took time out to mix another martinin and while I was out in the kitchen I thought of all the timie I would waste this evening it I wnet out to mix another drink every oknce in a while, so I made a big putcher of martinies and brought it back with me so I’d havr it right here besidme and wouldnit hac to vast time makin more of them. So now I’m all set and here goes. Besides marinis are agreat drink. Floor som reason they neverseem to affeat me in the slightest. Dan drink thrm all day long. So here does......Good healthe.

the greatest think thw wkld is friendship. Andbelieve me pal you are the grertsts apl enyudy everhad. So; you remembre all the sewll times ve ha toguther Bal??/. The wondderful camping trisp. I’ll never fofget the tiem yoi put the ddead skunnk in my sleeping bag. ha ha. Boy how we laugherddinn we. Never did get the sink out of it. Bit it was prety funnya anywasyn. I still laught abuct it onec in a whiole.

No az muhc as I use to...but waht the heke & afterall yuo stell be bestf old pal. and if ayu ca”nt have a luaghg on a good freidn one in a whiel whta heck.

Dam potcher is impty so I yust wentoutand de anotherone and I sure swich you weer herol pal to help me drank these Martunis because the y are sippl deliccious# Parn me wile I lif my flass to you goon healath oncemroe becaus you are the best pal I get. Of cauor why a pay would do dirthy thinb lick pxyting a skunk in a nother pals slepping bagg I’m dam if I know. They was alousy thing fro anybody, todo and only a first class sass woul did it. Wasna adm bit funnety. Stil stinks. And if you thinnkits funey youre a drity lous anded fare as im concrended you cango plum to heill and stya there you dirth lous. To hel with ouy.

Good nightt

Best of the season to all. I hope the big guy in red will overlook the minor indiscretions of all BFTers (sorry Pat) and be generous with his bounty. Wishing a happy and safe holiday season to all.

Good to see your post Lynn. I am down here in San Antonio visiting the kids for Christmas and suffering in the sweltering 70 Degree temps. I have have officially joined the unemployed sector and will never look back. Famous quote from my friend and fellow Catter. Hope your replacements take care of your issues. You will be hard to handle when Jeff drops the flag! Merry Christmas to you and my other BFTers.

Yeah, I been wondering where you were--thought you must be sick or mad at us [Wink]. Good to hear that all is well.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

Lynn,
You got me leaning into my PC monitor with that one.....................thought it was gonna be some good intel on you from the old days......[Wink]
I don't post as often during the winter cuz I don't ice fish. But I do check in time to time to read up on what others are up too, and hopefully to see that all the BFT folks I have met the past several years are still upright and have not fallen thru the ice.
Glad to read that the medical arts you endured are healing and working as advertised. I know you will be a serious competitor in the new years Catfish hunt, but then you have always been. I just may be able to provide a bit more competition up north this year as I have set a firm retirement date of 30 June, which should allow me lots more time to get out to or on the water.

Thanks for providing the chuckle.

The TinCansMate and I wish all our BFT friends, competitors, and families a safe a blessed Christmas season and a healthy New Year.

Ben,
Congrats, so are you headed south permanently now, or after your wife retires in May? If you return to the snow, we'll have to see if we can meet on the ice up to Strawberry or somewhere... Best of luck and congrats on the big event... Jeff

Hi Jeff. We will be returning after the Holidays. We will continue to live in Utah until after Deb retires. We will list our home for sale in March. If it sales pretty fast I will go ahead and move to Texas and get our new house ready to move into. And do some serious fishing for cats and Reds. Have a great Christmas and maybe we can do a little ice fishing.

Good luck Ben, boy that got here too quick, I hate to see ya leaving, but nothing better than being close to family. Best of luck. And hopefully we’ll get another trip in before you head south. I better find out where you’re going, work sends me to Texas at times so it could be fun to see if you’d teach me how to get onto a Red. I’m usually around San Antonio when I go. Thanks Jeff
