It Pays to Entere the Halibut Derby
#1
On Thursday 1-23-03 a landing regular decided to use a pass to fish aboard the Native Sun automatically disqualifying him from the Derby. Howard was offered to save his pass for next time and pay the $30 to be entered into the Derby. He declined wanting to save his $30, a decision he will soon regret. Howard ended up with the big fish of the day and what would of put him in second place overall with a 25 lb. halibut. He could of one the weekly prize of almost $100 and most likely would have qualified for the big fish off with a change to win the grand prize. Let this be a lesson learned the derby is more important that using a free pass.Plenty of halibut are still being caught daily with the derby ending 3-1-03. So come get in on the hot action! Call the landing for more details at (562) 432-8993.

Hello Illin_D,

Ouch!!! That hurts, but I guess landing a nice 25 lb'er is a pretty consalation. Sounds like the halibut bite just keeps heating up! I'm heading off to San Mateo tonight are you going to be at the show up there?
