Are you as offended by this as I am?

[#800000]President Obama became the first President in over 50 years to skip the ball honoring Medal of Honor recipients. The event sponsor, the American Legion, issued a statement which in part said the following: “President Obama was invited but did not attend. Vice-President Joe Biden did appear, however, and was very warmly received. The new President’s absence was understandable considering the unprecedented logistical challenges presented by the vastly increased number of visitors to this inauguration and the necessary attendant security measures. The American Legion, as an organization, does not feel offended or ‘snubbed.’”[/#800000]

[#800000]Well, the American Legion may not be officially offended by this, but I am. The President had plenty of time to rub shoulders with numerous celebrities in attendance at the ten other balls he did appear at, but did not attend an event that recognizes recipients of the military's highest award - the Medal of Honor. I think he was wrong in declining to attend the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball. He is, after all, the Commander in Chief of our military services. The least he could have done was show his respect for our nation’s finest heroes.[/#800000]

[#800000]You will NOT see this in the main stream media, so don’t bother looking for it there. However, it is true and a Google search will point you to thousands of valid sources. Here's just one: http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/8627. This ball did happen and he was not there.[/#800000]

This , I thought was a fishing forum? The man is not an idiot, he's our president. Give the man a break, this is from a VN vet. I'm tied of all this unpatriotic BS [#e0e0e0][strike]from goof balls like you[/strike][/#e0e0e0]. It's time to unite this country not divide it more than it already is.

[#008000]So it was okay to bash & HATE Bush, call him obscene names as done by some rappers did in DC, make offensive remarks on the morning shows but now that their guy is in office we are all suppose to unite behind him. I will never back a president [no matter what color or race] that is pushing a socialist agenda. BTW the Hollywood elite make big time contributions to his campaign so he owes them big time. It is rather interesting that since the previous posters are not of the same persuasion you find it necessary to call them names. While Obama is my president it doesn't mean that I have to go all out and accept his policies. Kindly note that I didn't call anyone a derogatory name be it the president or you. Have a nice day. BFT Policy does not allow you to have links of any form in your posts or signature until you have [#ff0000]15 posts[/#ff0000]. After that there are limits as to what you can have. Please read BFT rules and remove the links on this thread and also on the Panfish board. Thank you.[cool]

I have been an equal oppertunity presidential basher for as long as I can remember, "starting off with andrew jackson"

note I have given most of them my suport untill they have proven to me they no more belonged in office than I belong driving a space ship in to outer sapce.

Ok, there was one that I did not give the benifit of the doubt to, but hey, I had a lot to go on and I figured the apple didnt fall vary far from the tree... I was right about him.

I gave clinton and reagon the benifit of the doubt, I even suported them the first time around, but you could not get me to budge on thier second terms. It only took me one term to know weather or not they had the country or those who bought their way to the top seat intrest as a priority.

the killer part is the unions suported reagon/bush and clinton only to get their rist slit for their suport.

I saw this on the news, and I saw the repor to wich the vice president received. Two rongs do not make a right. Bush was no better either, One of the vets who happened to be a moderator here was susposed to be a guest of honor to receive an award from the president for the work he had done and contributions out of pocket to Bush's no child left behind program. Our member here was stiffed, and he had to drive to DC some 1200 miles one way. He received his award, but no one was there, not even rice or chaney.

Being a speaker at the american leagond is a social event, Yes a very important one at that, but not so important that it could not have been reschedualed to around memorial day.

He has a job to do, so for now I will give him some leway for the time being. he has dumped fresh money in the lap of every state in the union. This is something that the states has been deprived of since Reagon took office and continued by every president since. "except for cirtian pork belly projects"

How will rate this man? Just the same as I have rated every other president that I have lived though and those whose policies I have learned about.

If he can set this country on the right finicial recovery tract but misses a few social obligations along the way, I will be less critical of him than if he made all his social obligations and flubbed up on the major ones like economics, failing infristructures, and forgien affairs like the last 4 presidents have done.

for me, the jurry is still hearing evidence on this one....

You will get a little more impithy by not calling members names...[:p]

Bashing presidents and senitors and govenors who are inept in their jobs is far less objectionable to Bashing fellow members of BFT. [Wink]

If your unhappy with a politition and you explain why, Hey ya never know, the word just may get back to them. If your happy about something they did and say why, Hey ya never know the word just may get back to them.
