30+ fish & giant hopper
#1
So I went to my secret ff spot yesterday. It was super
nice day about 76F some wind in the afternoon and
nobody there after about 1/2 mile hike up river (pools).
This time I went off the trail to look for some new secret
pool and I did find them.
Caught about 10 small sunfish and changed spot.
At this new spot big sunfish started going after my bobble
indicator so I did what any flyfisher would and put a hopper on it. BUM nailed it fist cast . Caught few and lost
my popper to green sunfish. Ok, no problem I have more.
Oh, whats this ? Aaaaahh huge popper ! Put it on , little
voice told me in my head. Ok, here it goes.
Boy, it got good after that. For the most part all big
panfish and couple nice bass.
In this place 6"-7" panfish is big and 12'' bass is huge.
Caught about 30 + fish and had a great time.
Also I did try my new back/chest pack from Cabelles.
It works fine ones is on. Putting it on and off is a kinda
a little pain. I have to take off my hat and sun glasses to
put it on and off.

Right On. I read that September is the month for hoppers, and while on vacation, they were indeed everywhere.
That foam hopper is an easy tie Mac...really, just need the right stuff.
Thicker close cell foam, rubber legs tied in a knot for the joint, some kind of wing material ( that thin foam wrapped around electronics is great and detail with a waterproof marker) & Calf Hair.
I like the Mono eyes, I use a marker myself.

Well, I work in motion picture (local 44) doing props and
set dressing. When I work its long days (12+ hours) and when Im not working...........................
Right now its kinda slow for me ( not the best year ) so
I play during the work week.[Smile]

it did look like it was cut from a stencil... if I remember right one was orange and black.. the other either yellow and black or green and black.. either way.. they were killer... :-)

We do end up looking for the easiest pattern although, being a harder version to tie, nothing will ever beat a DAVE'S HOPPER
