From the beginning, TU has been guided by the principle that if we “take care of the fish, then the fishing will take care of itself.” And that principle has always been grounded in science. [font "Georgia"][#333333][font "Georgia"][#333333][font "Georgia"][#333333]Today, it is more apparent than ever that investing in habitat improvement, rather than hatcheries, is the correct course of action. An overwhelming body of science shows that hatchery fish can devastate wild and native trout populations through genetic contamination, disease, predation, and competition.[/#333333][/font][/#333333][/font][/#333333][/font]
[font "Georgia"][#333333][font "Georgia"][#333333][font "Georgia"][#333333]Unfortunately, DFG is considering a fish stocking policy that would continue to emphasize stocking fish over improving habitat, even though experience has shown that protecting habitat is the best way to improve fisheries.
