Candlelight event at Old Mill State Park postponed until Jan. 29 due to severe weather
#1
With the National Weather Service advising against travel this weekend in the area surrounding Old Mill State Park in northwestern Minnesota, the park's candlelight snowshoe event scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, has been canceled. The forecast calls for a combination of rain, sleet, and snow likely to cause unsafe driving conditions.

The candlelight snowshoe event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, instead. It will include a one-mile hike along the river and past the historic tower. The trail will be lit by candle luminaries and a nearly full moon. Showshoes will be available for rent ($6/day) while supplies last.

A Minnesota State Parks vehicle permit ($5 for a one-day permit or $25 for a year-round permit) is required to enter any Minnesota state park. For more information about the event, including directions to the park, visit mnstateparks.info.
