Nice report, I have been wanting to go to Mantua to catch some largemouths for a while. I have read a lot of your fishing reports and can't stop wondering, what is a porta-bote?

I figured porta_homer would be all over this one. He has a boat that folds up, kinda looks like a surf board when it's all folded...then it sets up an looks a little like a canoe. I've heard that most people that own them are very pleased with them. Porta_homer sure gets around on his quite often.

I saw one at the fair several years ago, and I was impressed.

The porta-bote is the greatest invention since power bait. It is a gift from God for those like me who can't talk the wife into buying a truck. Anywhere my plymouth breeze can go, my porta-bote can go too. We bought it in April and have used it probably 20 times this summer. It is much better than a canoe-5 feet wide at the back, and we have got setting up and taking down right down to a science, 15 minutes from car to water. Next year i hope to buy an outboard-they say that baby can plane with a 5hp.

Mind letting us know how much you paid for it (new or used)? Also does it take on any water?

I bought a new 12' for $1100, comes with oars and boat opener. It seemed like a jagged little pill to swallow at the time, but so far I can say it has been well worth it. Porta-bote offers great customer service too. The first couple times i set it up, the transom was very difficult to put in so I called porta-bote and the full time tech made me some new brackets and 2nd day aired them free of charge.

I sent for the info on the porta bote and they told me that they sell it at Camping World in SL. So I went to there website and the cost is about 1500.00 which I don't think is to bad for what you can do with that little boat. Know all I have to do is convince my husband how bad I really need one.I was impressed.
