hunting help needed for huns????
#1
ok I need some help I would like to try to go after huns on saturday.(with my back I'm thinking that I might beable to go after them) but I have never gone after them. my dog is not going to beable to go with me anymore she is too old and getting sick. my back is still giving me a bit of prob so I cant walk all that far with out hurting or needing to sit down. so if anyone can give me an idea of a place to try let me know or if you would be willing to take me if your are going. any help will be great. I did want to hunt for blue's but dont think i'm up to that yet.

Hey Nomoose, what's a hun? Is that the same as a chukar? The chukar hunt opens on Sat., but they're in more rugged terrain that the grouse are.

Aa hun is a hungarian partridge. It is grey bird a little smaller then a chukar . It is generally found in grasslands or mixed sage and grass adjacent to cutivated lands.in utah most are found in rich cache and box elder countys with the most in box elder. they found in the same areas as sharp-tailed grouse I have heard. I have hunted them at my pheasnt club but not in the wild and would like to.

HI nomoose

The last place that I have seen huns was up in Howell valley. It is a pheasant club but not for huns. I am pretty sure that you can hunt them up there. Just drive the roads and hit the small pockets of cover along side them. You should be able to find some there. Also there are chuckers in the hills around that area. If you don't know where that is it is a couple miles past Thiokol
west of Brigham city. Good luck. Wiper 24

hey thanks wiper24. I do know howell valley I have shot a turkey at that club. and that is where I went for doves. I was thinking of trying just that what you said. we did see some chuckers on the hill that we sat on for doves we were right across the street from thiokol. they would in go in and out of there land and come past us. talk about wanting to cry to have come up to you and you cant shoot them. aaahhhh but it was cool thanks for the help

without being able to hike this is a hard one nomoose. the last places i know of for huns are up by promontory and snowville area. southern idaho has quite a few left but requires out of state license obviously. i did jump a huge flock up by causey last year in the winter. if you know any land owners over by snowville that would be my recommendation. it seems like you already had this kind of info from the post but if you need anymore help i can try just pm me.
