Southern California Saltwater

Report for October 23, 2003 (Thursday)

San Diego is still just killing the yellowtail with 100+ yellowtail catches a boat happening again today! Some of the South Coast boats aren't doin' to shabby either!

The Blue Horizon on a 3/4 day trip with 18 anglers got over 35 yellows and 25 skippies.

Way Up North- Avila and Monterey
Rockfish limits.

Up North- Channel Islands
Rockfish and a mixed bag of snapper, etc.

LA Area- Catalina Island
Lots of Bonito

Further South- San Clemente
I'll bet yellows are being caught there but confirmation is nowhere to be found... by me!

San Diego- Local and Offshore
Local yellowtail action by the 3/4 boats is awesome just awesome. Skipjacks and other fish in the mix too.

LA Local
Sculpin, Rockfish a few halibut and bass. South of LA harbor, some of the South Coast boats including the Freelance, Cat Special and the Dana Pride are getting those yellowtail again today in great big ol numbers.

Further South- San Clemente
No idea.

San Diego_ Local and Offshore
Lots of yellowtail on the local boats with good bites on the offshore scene too.

Bass, Barracuda, and Bonito seem to be the staple except for the South Coast landings which are gettin good catches of yellows. (i.e. Newport, Davey's, and Dana Wharf landings)

LA Area- Catalina Island
Calicos, Perch, Bonito and a few Barracuda

Further South- San Clemente
Don't know much but I'll bet some of the South Coast Overnight or all-day sporties went there and got some yellows and calicos.

San Diego- Local and Off shore
very very good for most landings and it will be worth going out and have a chance at a yellow on a 3/4 day boat.

LA Local
SMB Sculpin and Snappers with South of Rocky Point getting a really mixed bag of bonito, barracuda, calico, sandbass, and the various rockfish.
