[#0000FF]Thanks for the fish porn. Nice pics.
I got out only once in September. Weather, family and travel situations kinda put a crimp in my fishing. And my total trips for the year to date are about what I would usually have by the end of April most years.
I plan to finish with a flourish though. Got lots of targets for the next couple of months. Now if we can get Mama Nature to stay on her meds...but still give us enough water to keep the fish alive...maybe there is some hope yet.

I ditnt make it out as much this year as I have in years past. Some trips were great others a bust. Now with autumn upon us I was forced to put away the toon until next year. I have other obligations to meet now. I was glad my last trip was to the berry and was a great trip to end the year with.

Yes I do![cool]. Right now there is a power issue with the motor and with the help of geezer we figured it out. I have a part being shipped from PA right now and should have it next Tuesday. After the repair I will take it out and try it again.

Very nice fishies!
I haven't been out on a tube or toon since spring. I will hopefully make some fall runs though.

Fish Lake; Henry's Lake; Strawberry; Henry's Fork River; Mirror Lake; and really high (11,000 ft.) Uinta Lakes. Still not enough and hope to hit the Green before it gets too cold.

[#0000FF]Hey Bro, I don't think the lack of responses is due to a lack of enjoyment or appreciation. I read 'em and enjoy them but have nothing to contribute except an "attaboy". Sturgeon fishing from a tube or toon is a bit "exotic" for most of our members. Kinda like them dreaming about a marlin trip...or an excursion for great white sharks. Might be doable but just an impossible dream for most.
I have caught quite a few sturgeon from boats and from shore but only one from a tube...an old round tube...on the Sacramento River while fishing for stripers with a piece of sardine for bait. About 6' and a little over 100 pounds. Completely unmanageable in the current with my tube and fins so I had to kick to shore and finish the battle there.
I would love the opportunity to go properly equipped in a stable toon with a powerful enough motor to help keep me out of trouble...mostly. But I also have to fact the reality that it probably ain't ever gonna happen.
Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your posted reports.

TD I can hook you up with a trip. I think you could do it in your float tube or if you wanted to do a toon that would be fine. My favorite hole doesn't have any current to speak of so any electric motor would work just fine.
You helped put me on track with Catfish, the least I could do is put you on sturgeon. Lets make a date of it next summer. This CAN happen, I have all the gear you need. Ron

[#0000FF]Sounds like a plan. I'll have my peeps contact your peeps and we can let them work out the details.
I'm guessing a 3 weight fly rod might not get it.
I do appreciate the offer and I'll do what I gots to do to make it happen.

Like I said July is the best month in my opinion. The river level needs to be under 1000 CFS. They flush the salmon in late may through June. July is real warm and the fish all head for the deepest hole to stay cool. My hole is 104 foot deep and usually has 15 to 20 fish that are eligible for a date. Like I said I got all the gear you need as far as poles, sinkers, and hooks all that stuff. You will have a blast, and if the fat girls show up for the party you will have a real blast. Ron

[#0000FF]Yeah, when it comes to fishies I am a "chubby chaser". Human type girls...not so much. My wife frowns on that.[/#0000FF]

I used mine this summer. I don't post about my fishing trips much. Just tossing dries to slurping heads daily, and it's all in MT, WY, or ID for the most part. Fish and river pics. are on my blog.

[#0000FF]I've caught them that big and bigger in Hells Canyon and in the upper Sacramento...from a boat. But I'll take your word on it from a pontoon. At some point it might get to be too much like work.
When I was in Vancouver (Canada) a couple of years ago there were pictures of teen-footers caught from the Fraser River up there. Scary. I was on my way to fish for salmon in the Queen Charlottes though and did not get to try for the sturgies.

Best, easiest to handle, most convenient, most comfortable, most functional pontoon I've ever owned! Really, I love it. Its so light, so responsive, so easy to take in and out in tight spots. Easy to anchor. Easy to get in and out of. Easy to walk/wade with in shallow water. Roomy side bags also make perfect rod carriers (I generally only carry two at most, often just one. Fits in the back of my short-bed, narrow-bed F-150 fully inflated. Little oars are super light, and the way they stow out of the way along side the boat is ingenious. (Others do it that way too, but still brilliant) It also handles the few rapids I encounter with ease. Right through Red Creek, Bridge, Mother in Law, and the others on the Green. Just get some splashes on the legs from the waves at higher flows, but not a face full or anything.
OK, point made. Anything else would seem like a big step down. I liked my Renegade a lot too, but this one fits me great. I've haven't tried its smaller sister.

It's weird, but I mentioned one day I feel totally secure in my Assault. Maybe it is the surrounding tube.
My first was like yours with thee bar:
Dave had an Escalade and a Cardiac Canyon (then called the Bimini)years ago that had the adjustable foot pegs (Oh, much like the NEW Commander by Outcast[ ])
I remember I thought the adjustable foot peg was very cool specially for people with long legs. I called Dave and asked if he could still get those foot pegs. He said he could but he had something for me to see.
Well I ended up with one of the new boats. The Splash guard is nice but not having taken it down a river I am not sure how much this helps.

I hang a one-day cooler inside the bow from a strap on the bow d-ring, so the splash guard would mess up that "system" for me. I don't see how the guard would change the splash in a rapid either. Like you, I really feel secure in that boat though. I've often wondered if I could get it down the Grand Canyon.[shocked] Seriously. I've run it before in a 16-foot Avon. If I skirted the big waves and stayed out of the huge eddies, I bet I could make it![angelic] Would probably need to try Ladore or Middle Fork Salmon first though.[laugh]
