My Tracker V16 has a 40 HP Mercury on it. The motor bracket has a flip up motor support lever (see pictures). My question is, is this indended to support the motor while towing the boat? And will it give sufficiant support on a bumpy road?

They make a bracket that supports the lower end of the motor to the trailer frame . The small bracket on the motor is not designed to hold up the motor during towing . On ebay , type in transom support bracket . There are several to choose from .

Even if it provided sufficient support the weight of the entire motor would be on the transom of the boat -- not good. I had a boat that the transom always supported the weight of the outboard and the transom began to bow. With the design of my trailer I really didn't have a choice.

I bought a Transom Saver at Sportsmans to help support the motor.
