Sanar Yaldo along with his friends, Lawrence Bahoura, Justino Zoma and Brandon Yaldo were down in Fort Lauderdale from Michigan to celebrate Sanar’s bachelor party and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the west at 12 mph, seas running 3-4 ft. with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 80’s. The group wanted to fight a large fish. As we left the dock, we stopped to purchase a dozen live Goggles Eyes from T&T Bait. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy off of Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling and wound up with seven Kingfish, one Tuna, three Barracudas, one Bonito and one Yellowtail. Now it was time to fulfill the group’s request to catch a large fish. We set up two kites with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite and sat waiting for his appearance. As the black shadow appeared dorsal fin and bill out of the water, chasing the bait. The game was on!!! The Sailfish came out of the water doing spectacular jumps while the sun gleamed down on his silver and neon body. Lawrence was our angler, and he brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat for picture taking and released to fight again. From there I went out to 350 ft. of water looking for a Shark. With Shark baits out, we waited patiently but no Shark. Mark, our mate, started bringing in the Shark bait. While the last Shark bait was 30 ft. from the boat, the dorsal fin of a Great Gray Hammerhead appeared chasing down the last bait. Mark free-spooled the bait to the Shark and immediately he ate it and the fun began. All the young anglers took turn fighting the Shark; Mark wired the fish and brought him to the side of the boat; the Shark measured 12 ft. long. However, it did not take long before the Shark decided to make another run at which the hook pulled. As we started to bring the bait back in again, the same Hammerhead charged the bait again and was hooked up again. Again the anglers took turns bringing in the Shark for the second time; pictures were taken and the Shark was released. All anglers retired into the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
