new fishfinder
#4
I have down scan on my finder but rarely use it any more because it just does not show any more detail that the regular part of the finder, it might be of more value in a deeper lake like the Gorge but I fish Willard the most. From looking at my friends finders, that have side scan, that is a feature that can really helps find the fish. You can see off to the side of your boat and find those groups of fish that that you went by, then you can turn around and go back through them. With side scan, you can see 75' off to either side of your boat. When I was looking for a new finder, I wanted the side scan but it was $200 more and I just did not want to pay almost double the price but in hindsite, it likely would have been worth it. I know it's a lot of extra money to pay to get the side scan and I was hoping that the down scan would be more useful but if I could do it over, there is little doubt I'd get it.
