2018 CAT CHAT!!!

Went back to the river Monday. Got here just at day break. Tried the Reeder outflow, had several taps and bait strips, but nothing taking the hook. Was a beautiful morning, cool, no bugs.

Moved down to the bottom past the gates. Set up about 30 yards down from the bridge. Started catching Bullheads on the worm, and some taps and nibbles on the cut carp. Then about 1020 a.m. hard hit, line stripped off the drag.... got it up to the bank..... was a big carp, but was hooked thru the skin on the outside of its mouth, just below the eye. Got it close to the bank, reached down with the net, holding my rod in left hand, net in right hand, just about got it in the net, it jumped and pulled. Lost my balance and slid down the bank on my backside, but only got the bottom of my shoe wet and netted the carp. [sly]

27.5 inches, full of eggs. Cut it up for bait. Gonna try again this weekend. Wife and kids all went to Georgia for a visit with her mom. So I have next 2 weekends by myself [:/].
