I've made a lifelong study of the effectiveness of different calibers and bullets on different game animals. Do you mind sharing what you used and where he was hit, etc.? Needless to say I don't ever get info on such a big animal. My goal has always been to use enough gun and to assure a quick and clean kill. A few years back I saw a young bull that had been shot with a .270. That killed him, but I'm sure I wouldn't have chosen it. You can PM me if you would like.
