Jig-- Interesting that you had good luck with sucker meat. I fish almost exclusively at Utah Lake and they kinda frown on (as in illegal) using any kind sucker meat. I have used chubs with good success and I wonder how they would compare to using sucker meat. Seems like both fish are kind of oily almost like anchovies. Catfish are not known for their discriminating cuisine so I'm sure both suckers and chubs would ketch 'em.
My go-to bait of choice is fresh... as in still bloody, carp meat, with a fresh white bass head a close second. I have a freezer full of minnows, chubs, carp, and white bass and I use them all but I still think nothing beats fresh bait.
Whatever works, I guess.
