2019 Cat Contest Comments Post
Turned out to be a pretty good outing. The cloud cover had them feeding early and the first fish was a 29", 10lb 9 oz beauty. Unfortunately I hooked her too deep and she was bleeding out the gills when I got her in. So she came home with me. A couple of fish later I got a big, beat up, hog head of a male that went just over 30". He had a huge gash in his abdomen that was pretty nasty, plus two wounds on his back, he was pretty thin, but his head was 7" across. I could have stuck my fist in his mouth. The last fish of the night went just over 28" and pulled like a 30+. Ended up landing 10 cats and took home a limit. We are going to have family over for a fish fry and will have enough left over to do a batch in the smoker as well.

When I was loading the truck just after 11 pm a young conservation officer pulled up behind me to check the fish and license. He was extremely nice. He mentioned that it was the first full limit of cats he had ever checked on the river in the 2 years he has been working out there. I mentioned BFT and he said he sees you out there all the time and just waves at you and doesn't bother checking your license.
