They are always where you find them, if you find them. I have a rule when I'm hunting cats. No bites in 20 to 30 minutes and it is time to pick up the gear and move. Tube Dude often describes his hunts as "s turns from 3 feet to 8 feet" (or whatever applies) until he finds the depth they are at that day or time of day.
This week we strolled through on area that produced well a week or 2 ago and got nothing. 2 hours later we returned and got several nive fish in that area.
You just have to find them each trip and when the are in the same place as last time, you get to save a little looking[
