I know what you mean. The other day I paused to think about my signature :
"Blessings upon all that hate contention, and love quietness, and virtue, and Angling." - Izaak Walton
and compared it to my last couple of trips to Trial Lake. One group, a couple of young couples, came out and set up not too near us but close enough that we could hear their loud speaking. They were drinking (and I have nothing against responsible drinking) and ripping out with the f-word and some other choice expletives. I actually didn't mind too much their raucous laughs and shouts when they caught something. But all-in-all it didn't enhance my experience. The second time we were hopping around trying to find some active fish. We ended up sorta close to a shelter containing a father and several small kids. One was a toddler, even ( I know for sure because the wet wipe that they left on the ice). They made a lot of noise. I didn't mind the giggles and laughter but it was hard to tell that from the crying and whining. He was a nice man and was happy to share with us his success and the go-ahead to use his holes when he left. I realize it's a hard balance knowing when to take the kids along to help build a love of the outdoors and when it may have the opposite effect. But I ramble. I think if we are going to be in close proximity to others we have to build a bit of a thick skin. But ripping through your area on an ATV and other crazy stuff does push yer patience fer sure. I can still walk a ways but that doesn't mean someone won't come and set up near you. And sometimes I get to fish weekdays which solves a lot of the problems.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
