fishfinders keep coming out with new stuff, I don't like looking because I want to buy
some things to think about 
the first is how and where do you fish.
I would think about buying a Graman that will support live scope . then when you get $1500 buy the live scope
If you ice fish make a pole mount like this for your  TRANSDUCER and you can take everything with you and you can put the transducder any place on your boat you want.

I have the ultera and they do have  some issues   I don't like the transducer that come with the Ultera.

Robert, there's a lot of things to consider in what you have provided...  A friend of mine has the live scope and we got to see it in action on the ice this winter... Pretty cool stuff, but I'm afraid financially I'm a generation behind in what I can afford... which is kind of frustrating to have your finders outdated in a year or two after you spend $700+ on them, but as long as they work well, I don't always have to have the newest next thing... Guess I just want something that works and I can figure out how to get it to do what it's supposed to do...  What I'd really like is a shallow water side finder, so I had a clue where to look for catfish... but I'm sure that is pretty tough tech to come up with... Thank you for all the resources to study... Jeff
